2015-Nov-25 Archívny Chlapec, James Harries, Živé Kvety / SNG Berlinka, Bratislava, SK

As other shows at Slovak National Gallery (and its great venue, Berlinka), this show was special.

It combined the songwriting powers of Slovak, Czech and UK musicians in a very organic way.

And lucky me with Nadja were there to bear witness. Now you can see it too.

First it started with Richard Vávra from Kúty, aka "Archívny chlapec", a very promising musician, who just released his first album album on Slnkorecords, called Zvery (Animals).

He is very humble and has a nice sense of humour

But he's also a haunting and powerful singer

Here he is supportin, James Harries, a songwriter currently residing in Prague:

And here is all that he played that night:

And finally, here are Živé Kvety, an explosion of songwriting from Bratislava, that should not be a surprise to you here by now.

2015-Nov-22 Koncert pre Juraja / Urban House

A lover of good music, literature, life, and people. An acclaimed journalist, passionate bookseller, and the most kind-hearted man, Juraj Kušnierik, passed away on 13 November. His close friends and colleagues decided to organise a CONCERT FOR JURAJ.

He was part of many projects in the Slovak cultural scene and in his elegant way, he connected different world: the bookshop Artforum.sk, the magazine .týždeň, Festival Bažant Pohoda, Radio_FM, and more. These worlds met on Sunday, 22 November in Urban House in Laurinská 14 in Bratislava to honour this noble man.

The highlights of the day included a concert by Korben Dallas, here's the singer's best moment:

Also, when Živé Kvety's singer Lucia helped cellist Daniel Matej with her microphone:

And in the end, when a superband got together - Živé Kvety with Marián Varga, Shooty, Tomáš Sloboda, Daniel Matej and Whisky

2011-12-08 Živé Kvety unplugged at Alexis, Bratislava

Well, the odds are, if you're not here for the first time, you've probably heard the name "Živé Kvety". But even if you are as familiar with the band as I am, you couldn't possibly imagine their strange and peculiar unplugged quality.

What you can however is to feel the atmosphere from the pictures:

P.S.
Just a several more notes:
- their producer, a Le Payaco singer Tomáš Sloboda, a known lover of spinning the black circles was to appear at the concert at some point. Well, he didn't. Shame for him, I must say. At least I have left the place with a long playing record, Zive Kvety's last - Spúšť (Wasteland). Check it out.
- I have experimented with new Picasa release for these pictures, Picasa 3.9. Screwed up on the Google plus front (whatever that is), but quite nice on coloring the images. What do you think?

2011-Nov-18 Živé Kvety S Magorom

From s1nko memorabilia

I would like to dedicate the following set of photos to Ivan Martin Jirous, aka "Magor", an inspiring persona of Czech Underground, who was putting on life like a sombrero, as Živé Kvety have put it in their song "S Magorom", so vivaciously performed last Friday in Bratislava's prime underground pub, U Očka (Moe's)

The photos are best to be viewed while listening to this recent recording of the song "Sloboda" (Freedom), dedicated to all people free in their minds, common, freaks and geniuses alike.

And here are the photos:
